SOTKAnet data on sheltered housing will in the future solely be derived from the STAKES Care Register

Data on sheltered housing for older people is gathered both for Statistics Finland's statistics on municipal activities and for the STAKES Care Registers for Social Welfare and Health Care.

Data in the statistics on municipal activities maintained by Statistics Finland:

- Sheltered housing for older people, clients on 31 Dec (includes both ordinary sheltered housing and sheltered housing with 24-hour assistance), from 1994 onwards.
- Sheltered housing with 24-hour assistance, clients on 31 Dec, from 2006 onwards.

Data in the STAKES Care Registers for Social Welfare and Health Care:

- Ordinary sheltered housing, clients on 31 Dec, from 1995 onwards.
- Sheltered housing with 24-hour assistance, clients on 31 Dec, from 2000 onwards.

Previously SOTKAnet contained "Sheltered housing for older people, clients", derived from Statistics Finland, and "Sheltered housing with 24-hour assistance, clients on 31 Dec", derived from the STAKES Care Registers.  In order to clarify the use of the data and make the figures comparable, SOTKAnet will in the future only publish data from the STAKES Care Registers on ordinary sheltered housing and sheltered housing with 24-hour assistance.
