Emigrants are the sum of emigrants leaving Finland and migration between municipalities.
Migration between municipalities has been adjusted throughout the time series so that it correspond with the most recent regional divisions, i.e., migration between municipalities that have since merged has been eliminated from the figures.

The partial merger of Längelmäki: only figures for migration between Jämsä and all of Längelmäki have been eliminated for 1990-2005. The partial merger of Sipoo with Helsinki has not been taken into account for 1990-2007.
