Data content

The indicator gives the care periods during the year in outpatient surgery for all patients who have received day surgery (per 1000 inhabitants). The population figures refer to mean population.
A period of care is classified as day surgery if its service activity in the Care Register is day surgery, that is, a day surgery procedure was performed on the patient based on a prior agreement.
Day surgery does not include procedures performed out-of-hours as an emergency case.

Data collection has been extended to cover the whole time series for 2012. Treatment periods in the service activity of day surgery includes periods where the primary procedure is between A-R, but where the third character is not 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0.
