Data content

The statistics include those aged 35 - 54 who have been granted a new disability pension during the year under an earnings-related pension system or the national pension system or both. The number of new recipients of disability pension is given in relation to the population not receiving pension. Direct standardisation is used as a method of age standardisation.

Interpretation

The age-adjusted indicator gives the percentage of persons receiving disability pension in the 35 - 54 age group, assuming that the age distribution of the research population is the same as that of the total population of the same age in the whole country during the year concerned. Direct age standardisation has been conducted separately for each year. As a consequence, different areas can be compared with each other in a specific year, whereas it is not possible to compare the figures of a specific area with later years.
